Carlssin Redux

Over in the old blog, I wrote about Andrew Carlssin. I got a lot of comments, so I thought I'd drag 'em over here. To wit:

Some cat named Andrew Carlssin was busted for insider trading. If the story scans right, he took 800 bucks and turned it into 350 million. He claims to be from the future.

Check his teeth.
They should appear to be perfect. Dentistry is one of the most quickly advancing medical fields.

Hum a few tunes.
Even if he does Beethoven, it would probably the very recording and timing of something on CD now. There is no reason to believe the interpretations and timing would be the same 200 years from now. Besides there'd be lots of new tunes he'd know, we've never heard of.

Check his fibers.
What are the chances that his whole apartment would be devoid of artifacts from the future?

Check his timecraft license.
Either he stole it or he has some very interesting ways to explain how he got licensed to get it.

Ask about his job.
It's the one thing he'd have enough details to talk about which ought to be verifyable enough. Most of us don't know how our cars or computers work but we know enough to operate them.

Check his stock history book.
This would be key. Either he cracked security here and learned in place, or he brought back sophisticated records with him.

Check his blood.
What's aspirin like in the 23rd C? There'd be some trace of something incredible in his bloodstream.

All that aside, it stands to reason that if the guy's from the future, he's a criminal, period. He's got no business being here.

Hey man, might want to check this out http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,630-627115,00.html

Interesting story though

I have to say that I love this guy, even though he's clearly nothing more than a con man who got caught. Timothy Burke 4/5/03; 6:10:39 PM

THERE IS NO CARL ANDERSON.. ER, ANDREW CARLSSIN... Gregorius 4/10/03; 2:51:37 PM

OK, so SEC says that there is NO Andrew Carlssin to their knowledge. Well if you had this gem in your care would you let on that he existed? I mean, he'd be under such tight wraps that "W" himself might not know about it. What I wonder is, if they ever do let him go, how will they explain the 1500 people following him, hoping to find his time machine.

Another way to confirm (but possibly not deny) Andrew Carlssin's story is by trace quantitative analysis of various isotopes in his body.

For example, huge amounts of several radioisotopes were released worldwide accidentally
- as a result of mishaps at several nuclear reactors over the years:
the UK ministry of defence's plutonium production plant at Windscale in the late 50s;
The SL1 incident at Idaho Falls, Idaho, USAA;
Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania, USA;
Chernobyl, the Ukraine (former USSR);
the US plutonium plants at Hanford, Washington and Rocky Flats, Colorado
- and as a result of above-ground nuclear tests conducted by the major nuclear powers until 1963 and by China and France until much more recently.

The first step would be to ask Carlssin about any nuclear reactor accidents, nuclear explosions or wars which will have occurred in his history and our future. If there were any and they were more recent in his past than the above ground tests and reactor accidents I mentioned - or farther back in his history but on the scale of, say, Chernobyl (and with the Iranians, Libyans, Pakistanis, etc all making their own plutonium, it's a sucker bet we'll have more Chernobyls all over the world), then we would expect Carlssin's bone to have more strontium-90 and plutonium than a man of his build and age today.

In the unlikely event that there were NO nuclear wars, explosions or accidents from now to when Carlssin says he's from, he should have LESS strontium-90 in his bone than we do.

There are other isotopes which one can use in this way. Note that this method of testing can prove Carlssin right, but for a number of reasons cannot prove him wrong - nuclear releases of which Carlssin was ignorant might happen in the future/his past - unless he claims that a nuclear war, one with thousands of nuclear detonations, happened so close to his time that he would almost have to have very high radioisotope levels in his bone and elsewhere in his body - and doesn't.

Your idea of new drugs turning up in his bloodstream is great, but what would stay in his system for the length of time he's already been here, unless it came from an implanted drug delivery device like a Norplant or his body had been genetically engineered to make it?

Evidence of gene therapy might be conclusive enough to put him in the future. Absence of common but medically troublesome genetic traits might be a good place to start looking - say, the gene for hypercholesterolemia or susceptibility to Alzheimer's or Mad Cow Disease having been edited out of his DNA, stuff like that.

I've heard that Mr. Carlssin either escaped or was bailed out? When and by whom? I'm really interested in this case, and want to know!
(P.S.: Oh, time machines! The perfect answer to almost any problem! See dead relatives! Warn them NOT to do what killed them! And/or....just go ahead 1 day. That's all I need, anyway. Just ONE day after the lottery results are given. Then, I'd go back to my own time, (one day before), and........... : )

But please tell me what happened, finally to Mr. Carlssin. Did he escape, or was he bailed out? By whom?
Thanks!

This is the hoax of the year, except of course for the one being perpetrated on the citizens of the ole USA by Bush and Co.

He. he, he.
There's an internet site totally devoted to me. I am from the future and I can answer most of your questions, but I'm not going to. The effects would be too disastrous. Soon I will be gone. I have escaped prison and am trying to locate my time machine. Oh well. It's been quite a laugh. See you all another time! (He, he.)

Oh and one last thing... Bill Gates will be superceeded as the richest man in the world by 2005.

Bye.

It may be true that there is such a person as Mr. Andrew Carlssin but why in the world would he have trouble locating his time machine? It makes no sense at all. That information about Bill Gates you gave us is OLD NEWS.
Tell us something we don't know.

Andrew Carlssin molested me and escaped into the future.

Hey, If you are for real at least you could give the whereabouts of Bin Ladden and the cure to AIDS like you promised. For the money you took and did not share with the poor, to try to make this world less filled with sorrow and pain. Just something to give us hope for the future. Sir if you where for real and did nothing to help the human race to be more at peace on the Earth than you are a very selfish man. Tal Davis
