FBI Hate Crimes '95
Preliminary figures show 7,947 hate crime incidents were reported to the FBI during 1995. The incidents were reported by more than 9,500 law enforcement agencies in 45 states and the District of Columbia. Participating agencies covered 75 percent of the U.S. population.

The categorize different types of hate crimes. Of the roughly 5400
hate crime incidents reported in 1996, ~1100 are listed as anti-white
while ~3600 are listed as anti-black. Given that whites outnumber
blacks by around 5-1, that is a pretty compelling difference.

Religious and sexual orientation hate crimes are a separate
category. There were ~1100 anti-jewish hate crimes and ~1000 anti-
gay hate crimes.
