Cobb on the Air

I will be on the air this evening defending the Reagan Legacy from a black perspective. At 7pm Pacific time, I'll be a guest on the 'PowerPoint' radio talkshow originating out of Atlanta's WCLK. It's a call in show and will go for an hour.

WCLK is a Pacifica affilliate, so I'm pretty sure that the other two guests will be trying to shoot me down, but I think it will be an interesting opportunity to reach a lot of folks that wouldn't ordinarily hear my particular point of view. I'm looking forward to this and I owe a debt of thanks to my man Spence.

I have my own of course, but are there any talking points you think I should bring up?

Apprently, Cobb will be on the air "defending the Reagan Legacy from a black perspective." Which, I can only imagine, will gloss over the Nancy-in-a-red-suit admonishing suburban white kids, "Don't do crack, kids--It's a ghetto drug... [Read More]

Blogger on the air tonight, discussing Reagan from the media drop
Cobb's Michael Bowen will be on the air tonight on WCLK radio tonight at 10pm Eastern. The show he's participating in is called "PowerPoint," and he'll be "defending the Reagan Legacy from a black perspective," he states. It's always great... [Read More]

The Playoffs from Vision Circle
So my man over at Prometheus6.org says Karl's the problem. He's only part right, and for the wrong reason. Karl is a problem not because he freezes, but because he's hurt. He can't check Wallace, which diminishes the amount of... [Read More]

The show went surprisingly well. I only wish I could have plugged the website. Lester Spence was also on the panel, and we worked it. I'm going to try and get a stream of the show and host it. I'm very pleased with the way things went. Awesome! I gotta do more radio.

I'm sorry I missed it, Cobb. Maybe they have the show archived.

Seriously, I'd like to hear the program. I'm totally unaware of a Black perspective from which Reagan's legacy can be defended. A conservative perspective, yes. A class perspective, yes. But a Black perspective?

Let me know if you can get the thing. I'll be nice and not say anything about it.

Actually, WCLK is an NPR outlet, not a Pacifica affiliate. (the local Pacifica drek comes from WRFG - yeah, they actually call themselves Radio Free Georgia)

The host of PowerPoint is Carmen Burns; I've met her before. She's pretty rational as compared to many NPR types -- she's from local media here; she used to anchor weekends at NBC affiliate WXIA-TV.

I appeared on PowerPoint a few months back, while Carmen is rational, many of her callers aren't. They range from the basic moonbat side of the scale to the pathetically foaming at mouth lunatic end of the world.

(but then again, since you were there LAST night, you got all of that...[g])

You're right. I asked the person who called me originally to setup the date what stations it could be heard over, and she told me that the show would go over Pacifica, and didn't hear much beyond that.

After I checked the website, I could see that it was the jazz station I used to listen to when I was in Atlanta, so I felt better about that. The host Carmen Burns is a real pro and made me feel right at home. We had one foaming nutjob call in but she cut him off before he drowned us in his drool.

Spence is looking into getting a transcript/audio of the show.
